Emotional Intelligence Test
Emotional Intelligence Test: I Bet You Will Be Surprised Of Your Results
For whatever reason our society as a whole has always focused and lauded the traditional type of intelligence which is aptitude intelligence like logical reasoning, math skills, spatial recognition, piecing together abstract analogies, verbal abilities and the like. But what most people don’t really equate emotional intelligence with brilliance in the traditional sense. Most of what you will find out there for intelligence tests are the traditional IQ tests and don’t focus on the much more practical emotional intelligence test.
Emotional intelligent people are often good sales people and are known as being “street smart” or that guy who can sell ice to Eskimos and ketchup popsicles to ladies in white dresses. Being a good sales person requires reading peoples emotions to be able to move a conversation in a specific direction through emotional management. That is hard to measure in an emotional intelligence test.
Emotional Intelligence Test Is Different Than A Standard IQ Test
Scientists have studied the aptitude intelligence and can predict to some extent if someone will be a good quiz taker and scholar in academics but certainly not personality and professional success. How they measure and piece together the intricate workings of the human mind is really unbelievable at times. But no matter what they do they seem to miss the signals that create emotional intelligence people.
Think for second the stereotype of the “scientist”. They are socially inept, often mindless by losing things like their glasses on top of their heads, and often not in touch with reality as in the “mad scientist”. Yes emotional intelligence requires thinking with another part of the brain than is associated with “intelligence”. A number of individuals with fabulous IQ scores used to do poorly in existence, you could say that they are wasting their potential by thinking, acting and interacting in ways that impeded their chances to achieve social success. But in academic success they were considered brilliant.
One of the leading missing parts within the success equation is emotional intelligence, an idea prominent through the very popular book by Daniel Goleman, which is dependant on many years of research by numerous researchers like Salovey, Caruso, Mayer. There are many reasons why most people who are socially intelligence are not considered very intelligence in the traditional sense but can navigate their way through almost any social situation without a hiccup. The high IQ people may fall flat on their face and harbor social anxiety when it comes to other people as their Emotional IQ is very low. It is pretty rare when you meet people that get a high quiz score when they take an emotional intelligence test.

Continuing From Wherever You Are Now
People who have some training in Emotional Intelligence skills are usually aware that they are lacking in some key dimensions. Often, their business training helps them deal with emotional team members or emotional clients. That’s good. It’s very useful. Managers with that kind of training may have a nagging feeling that they are missing something. Sure, the techniques work, but there is more to an Emotional Intelligence Test than a handful of techniques – even very, very effective techniques!
Others have been trained in how to manage their own emotions. They can summon up real emotions at will. No matter how they are really feeling, they can summon genuine happiness or excitement to walk into a client meeting. No matter how insecure they might really feel, they can summon confidence before they shake hands and put on a great show. Some of the less skilled are faking it. Some of the best bring up the emotion for real. Even the very, very skilled might hear a whisper somewhere in the back of their mind that maybe those emotions they are turning off might be important after all.
Even with these skills, there are new dimensions to explore. Very, very rare is the person who truly has a grasp of every dimension of a Emotional Intelligence test. Some do. Even if you do, it’s good to know for certain. Taking a free emotional intelligence assessment helps you take a look at each dimension of your EQ (Emotional IQ).

Emotional Intelligence Test Working Definition: PUMU
A simple, workable definition of Emotional Intelligence is the ability to Perceive, Understand, Manage and Use emotions. I abbreviate it as PUMU. You apply PUMU to yourself and others. Many people learning how to improve emotional intelligence test in business are taught how to Perceive and Manage the emotions of others. Based upon the feedback I’ve received from business people, nearly all the training for emotional intelligence in the workplace is aimed at dealing with emotional people. That is really useful, but obviously limited.
Taking the emotional intelligence test will be illuminating for most people. The questions simply ask you to consider how well you Perceive, Understand, Manage and Use (PUMU) your own emotions, and how well you PUMU the emotions of others. Each question provides you with guidelines for what is ordinary, modest, exceptional and genius level performance at each. Just seeing what it takes to be at one level vs. another is very helpful.
